A man asked,
I’ve come across a website that’s called The Hearing Fix. They say they have capsules (a herbal mix and so forth) that works really well at restoring hearing, money back guarantee, backed by university research. Do you know of such? Is such correct?
You are not the first person to ask me this question. It’s always good to be cautious when you read claims that sound too good to be true—because they usually are—but they often have a grain of truth in them. I think this is the case here as well. Let me explain.
First, www.thehearingfix.com website is long on hype and short on facts. For example, on the home page there is a picture of a man dressed up as a doctor who is quoted as saying, “I believe that daily use of The Hearing Fix is the perfect way to ensure that one has the best possible hearing. I recommend it to everyone.” Notice, that there is no name given. The man who said this is either not a doctor, or doesn’t want his name associated with something he said. You have to wonder why.
Furthermore it claims, “The Hearing Fix: #1 rated hearing loss treatment”. Who rated this? Where’s the proof? Show us where it says this. The truth is that few people even know about this product—so how can it be the No. 1 rated hearing loss treatment?
Second, notice that there is supposedly a lot of research, but not a single source is cited. Rather there is just the hype, “Clinically supported Science from the universities of Florida, Michigan and Washington. The active compounds found in The Hearing Fix are supported by clinical research and have been cited in over 29 scientific studies.” It sure wouldn’t hurt to have a page that lists this information so people could check it out for themselves. This would give more credence to these claims.
Third, notice that this product is a food supplement. (I certainly have nothing against good food supplements!) As such, they are not allowed to make any claims for this product. Read their “Important Notice” on the home page, “The Hearing Fix is a dietary supplement designed to promote healthy hearing. It is not intended for use or treatment of any disease. Always use hearing protection.” and “These Statements have not been evaluated by the food and drug administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, mitigate, treat, cure or prevent any disease.” (emphasis mine)
So how can they claim, “The hearing fix is a revolutionary hearing loss treatment scientifically engineered to help protect and restore ones natural hearing abilities. This amazing product is a natural remedy to almost all causes of hearing problems including:
- Noise induced hearing loss
- Tinnitus
- Sensorineural hearing loss
- Presbycusis
- Conductive hearing loss
- Sudden hearing loss”
Fourth, notice that there is a paucity of information on the people behind this product. In fact, there is nothing available. When they “hide” this information, you wonder what else they are hiding. A good rule of thumb is that you should not buy from websites that don’t give a physical address, which this site doesn’t.
In contrast, look at any of my websites. There you will find my name, address, phone number, FAX number, email address, etc. and information about me. I have nothing to hide, and I want people to be able to check up on me to see if I’m genuine or not.
That’s the bad news.
Now for the good news.
The Hearing Fix is made up of a number of herbals (and I’m definitely in favor of taking herbals rather than drug) and amino-acids and related compounds. Here are a number of them and what they can do for you. (The following information comes from my herbal and other reference books—not from this website.) As you can see, none of these are “bad” things. In fact, they are all “good” things.
- The main herbal is Milk thistle (Silybum marianum)—300 mg.—which helps protect from the effects of free radicals, and boosts the body’s production of glutathione by 35%
- Grapeseed extract—100 mg. Grapeseed contains powerful antioxidant compounds called procyanidins
- Dandelion extract—100 mg.—is high in Vitamin A
- Scutellaria baicalensis—50 mg.—is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that inhibits some viruses
- Schisandra chinensis—50 mg.—is another strong antioxidant, and also helps improve brain efficiency
- Barberry (Berberis vulgaris)—30 mg.—is a natural antibiotic used by herbalists in the treatment of ear infections
- Turmeric—30 mg.—is packed with the antioxidant vitamins A, C and E
- Celidonium majus—10 mg.—fights viruses, bacteria, fungi, tumors and inflammation
- L-Glutathione—100 mg.—this is the body’s most powerful antioxidant and zaps free radicals
- N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC)—100 mg.—is an amino acid that your body uses to make glutathione. Since glutathione is not well absorbed when taken by mouth, taking NAC is a better approach in helping your body increase its supply of glutathione
- L-Carnitine—50 mg.—is derived from the amino acids Lysine and Methionine. It plays an important role in such things as energy production, enhancing cellular energy in the brain and improving mental performance (from which we could all benefit)
- L-Methionine—20 mg.—is one of the 8 essential amino acids, and is a powerful antioxidant
Now, what does all this mean in relation to hearing loss. The US military and other researchers have been studying ways to protect military personnel from hearing loss caused by exposure to loud noise. They found that loud noise causes the production of free radicals in the inner ear. (Incidentally, taking prescription drugs, or eating fried foods, for example, also causes an excess of free radicals.) When these free radicals zap a hair cell, it either damages or kills it, resulting in permanent hearing loss.
If something could neutralize the free radicals before they zapped the hair cells, then hearing could be preserved. With that in mind, they turned their attention to antioxidants. Since glutathione is the most powerful natural antioxidant, they developed a “pill” that contains glutathione and associated amino acids. By taking these “pills” before going into battle, and again after the battle, they found that, to a large extent, the hearing of soldiers taking this treatment was preserved.
Coming back to The Hearing Fix, looking at the ingredients I’ve listed above, notice that many of them are antioxidants. Thus if you expose your ears to loud sounds, take drugs or eat foods that produce free radicals, these antioxidants will work to zap the free radicals, and thus help preserve your hearing. As a side benefit, if you preserve your hearing, you have a much better chance of not having annoying tinnitus either.
Also, notice that various of the herbals have antibiotic properties that can help protect your ears from the ravages of viruses and bacteria—again preserving your hearing, and by reducing ear infections, reducing the severity and frequency of conductive hearing losses.
So the bottom line is that The Hearing Fix, although short on facts and long on hype on this website, appears to be actually quite a good product. It’s missing a couple of important minerals such as zinc and magnesium that are also important for good ear health.
Taking The Hearing Fix won’t restore your hearing if you’ve lost it in the past, if its due to genetics, etc., but by promoting good ear health, and providing powerful antioxidants and antibiotic functions, it can help you maintain healthy ears, and help prevent further hearing loss caused by living in our noisy world.
Now that you realize what this product can and cannot do, you may choose to take this product and see whether you notice any benefits to your ears.
As near as I can tell, none of the ingredients are harmful to either your body or your ears, so the worst thing that you could expect is that your health improves along with preserving your hearing.
If you take this product, and assuming you cannot detect any change to your ears and your hearing, you can always ask for your money back—and get back an extra 10% back in the process according to their website. So it looks like you win either way.

Update January 21, 2011
The company that produces “The Hearing Fix” recently changed its formula so what I wrote above about its ingredients is no longer valid. The new list of ingredients includes:
- Vinpocetine—a synthetic compound derived from the lesser Periwinkle plant (Vinca minor). It is supposed to increase blood circulation in your brain.
- Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE)—a precursor for acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a key chemical in neurons (nerve cells) that acts as a neurotransmitter, that is, it carries information across the synapses between adjacent neurons.
- Choline bitartrate—a member of the Vitamin B complex group. It helps increase the acetylcholine neurotrantmitter levels (see previous ingredient).
- Glycine—one of the non-essential amino acids that helps create muscle tissue and converts glucose into energy.
- Alpha lipoic acid—a natural antioxidant made by the body.
- L-cysteine—a naturally occurring amino acid.
- Pregnenolone—the basic steroid compound in your body that your body naturally produces and uses as the building block for all the other steroids it produces.
- Pyridoxine—basically Vitamin B6.
- Methylcobalamin—one of the natural forms of Vitamin B12.
- Folate—a natural form of Vitamin B9. Folic acid is the synthetic form.
- Ascorbic acid—a form of Vitamin C and acts as an antioxidant.
- Magnesium—needed to help protect your ears from noise damage. If you are around loud noise, it depletes your ears of the magnesium it needs.
I have my doubts that this formula is better than the previous one, but it is certainly different. The former formula was geared to protecting your ears from the effects of loud noise, while this one seems just to be promoting good ear health.
Like the above formula, I don’t think this new one will cause any problems to your ears, but I question how much change it will make, if any, if you are already following a good diet.
They still have their money-back guarantee, so if you try it and it doesn’t do anything for your ears, you can get your money back.

Thanks for the comments. I have 65% hearing loss at present. I wear hearing aides for the last 15 years. Obviously this “Hearing Fix” will not do anything to improve my hearing loss. Any suggestions for me?
Dr. Neil says
Hi Pushpa:
Once you hearing is gone, as in your case, hearing aids are the next step. You can make your life easier if in difficult listening situations you supplement your hearing aids with assistive listening devices and alerting devices, and in addition, practice the myriads of coping strategies that help hard of hearing people successfully cope with their hearing losses.

My husband went to the shooting range to try out a new gun. He placed the ear plugs in his ears but not correctly. Since then he has had trouble with his hearing. He cannot hear conversation very well, highway noise sounds very loud, there is a swooshing sound. He has had one round of steroids (Z pack), one round of antibiotics, and now is one hid second Z pack. Nothing sems to be helping.
Do you think something like the Hearing Fix would help him.

In Europe, doctors prescribe B12 vitamins, bee pollen/honey, diet, other minerals/vitamins to improve hearing. I think is more about brain than about hearing itself, but it works even for sensorineural severe hearing loss. It does not restore hearing at perfect level, but it improves communication/performance in mainstream society. From 1940 doctors in Europe used a drug called Ottoneurin(Milligamma)… I think this supplement may work.

I told the owner of hearing fix if it does not do anything in three months I will file a complaint with the better business bureau and get my money back. You have to finish at least one bottle to get your money back. They say it works in 3 months and then you stop taking it for a month. I started taking it. I will let you know if it works

I Took the hear fix and stopped it becuase even though there are vitamins and herbs there is a hormone in the substance and it will irriate your prostate if you are a male .ANY MALE WHO HAS PROSTATE PROBLEMS DO NOT TAKE IT . IT IS VERY BAD
I think there is something in it called pregnenolone
This stuff will definitely effect your prostate
The best solution is get a top brand hearing aid that is the cheapest like widex or phonax and if you are a musician and play music get an ear plug like westone that cuts down the highs so you can hear and play the music without hurting your ears

I have ordered a 3 month supply of Hearing Fix, but I have not received it. I have worn hearing aids for many years. I got new ones about 3 years ago. They are much better, but I am still having a lot of problems with determining what people are saying. I can hear their voice but cannot understand what they are saying. I have problems especially on the phone. I was hoping that this product would help me in this area. I had asked my audiologist whether he could help me and he said it was very difficult. He tried to adjust my aids but was almost totally unsuccessful. Do you have any suggestions?

I have found TheHearingFix to stand by all its claims. I have gone from not understanding TV to understanding, I cannot begin to tell you the benefits I have recieved since taking this product. I felt effects after one week of using it. This is the most helpful thing I have come across in all the years I have been loosing my hearing. Sadly if I got onto this years ago I may not have lost so much hearing. Please do not complain about this product if it doesnt work for you. It has taken me years to find something and this is the best product I have come across thus far.

I think that the hearing fix really helped me. The customer service people told me that it was not a miracle pill, which they were right. But it did definitely help me improve my hearing in a lot of ways. I would say that I hear about 35% better especially when there are a lot of people around.
I live in Indonesia and it took about 2 weeks to arrive.
Chris says
I too have used the hearing fix with good results. It took about a month to start feeling the results the first time. Like they said above, it’s not a miracle pill but it definitely helps me a lot and is worth it for me to keep taking. I have unfortunately noticed that when I quit taking it the positive effects go away within a month or so. I’ve ordered 3 separate occasions now, always comes quickly. I think it’s a little pricey but I guess you get what you pay for. I plan to keep taking it.

I personally love the stuff. I’m a retiree living in bangkok and have been using the stuff now for about 4 months. I feel like it’s really working.

Though somewhat apprehensive, given that one of the ingredients bothered me a little, I religiously took these capsules for a month and two weeks. A three month course was recommended. The add also stated that some folk may have to keep on taking them to maintain the desired effects. Anyway, by the end of the month, and two more weeks, I was beginning to feel rather unwell, one day unpleasantly anxious, and I had been experiencing a weird and elevated heart rate which had been interfering with my sleep and which was leaving me feeling on edge.
Feeling very concerned, I decided I had better investigate the ingredients more fully. Upon doing so, I discovered two ingredients that rather upset me — one being Pregnenolone — so I immediately stopped taking them. I discovered the side effects of Pregnenolone — a steroid, hormone — were: Anger, anxiety, hair loss, irritability, insomnia, over stimulation, headaches, heart palpitations, irregular heart rhythms, the latter even on a low dosage. The American Cancer Society also reports that pregnenolone has been known to cause liver problems. It is also suggested that the growth of hormone-responsive cancers such as breast and prostate cancer may occur as a result of the use of pregnenolone.
On consulting a friend who’s a very well trained doctor, I was told that such could prove dangerous, and especially at the dosage prescribed and contained in those capsules — 20mg per day. Vinpocetine is also of concern going by a pharmacist I spoke to. I did feel the tablets may have been helping but the question is at what cost and it appears they only work when you’re always taking them?

Man I’m glad I read these posts, I am totally blind and have a very severe hearing loss and was thinking about trying this product, how ever, after reading the posts here I don’t think I’m gonna go for it. I think this product should be baned from the market if since it contains two very dangerous ingredents. You know they say on there ws that there hasen’t been any site affects reported, so any of you who have taken this stuff that have had any problems, make sure you call, or email tthose people at the hearing fix and let them know what you have experienced so that they’ll be aware of the problems just in case they ‘re good people and are hopefully trying to do the right thing. It’s possible that they, for what ever reason didn’t fully research some of the ingredents they put in that product so I think it would be a good idea to make sure they are aware of the problems that it’s causing. If they either can’t or don’t wanna make it safe it needs to be reported to the fda and removed from the market.

Neil says
Hi Mike:
I suspect that a virus probably took out your hearing back in December. Since you have not regained any hearing in the past three months, it is almost certainly to be permanent. Thus, taking The Hearing Fix probably won’t help restore your hearing.

I had a sudden hearing loss at age 19 and was told to go home and learn to live with it. It took about 50% of hearing from my right ear. I am now 64 and had the same thing happen in June of this year to my left ear. I was treated with cortisone and understanding in the left ear went from zero to 64%. I am going to try the hearing loss for three months and then have testing done again n January.
I will then have excellent documentation of what improvement occurs in that three months. For anyone who is Catholic or believes in praying to saints, the second American saint is Sr Katherine Drexel. Both of her miracles that lead to her becoming a saint were restoring hearing.
Cardinal John Krol began the campaign for her sainthood shortly after her death, however, in order to be canonized the Church requires proof of at least two miraculous cures due to the intercession of the candidate.
In 1988, Pope John Paul bestowed on Katharine Drexel the title of “Blessed” after decreeing that the cure of Robert Gutherman of hearing loss in 1975 occurred only after he and his family prayed to Mother Drexel for intercession.
In January of 2000, the Pope decreed that Amy Wall, a seven year old girl from Bucks County, Pennsylvania had been miraculously cured of her deafness after prayers were made to Mother Drexel.
Amy’s mother had prayed to Catherine Drexel for strength to deal with her daughter’s hearing loss. Suddenly the teachers at her daughter’s school came to the mother and told her that Amy was hearing again. Testing proved there was a complete cure and that was what lead to the hearing being declared a miracle and to Sr Katherine becoming a canonized saint.
I have been praying to Sr Katherine and believe she is helping my hearing to be restored and also that she is pointing me to the Hearing Cure. I will report my experience here for the next three months and my results from a hearing test in January, 2013.

I lossed my hearing at 19 yrs that is sensineoural hearing loss any suggestions to cure my hearing loss rather than hearing aids
Neil says
Hi Chint:
Probably not. It depends on whether your inner ear is “sick” or the hair cells are dead. If the hair cells are dead, then you need to use hearing aids or get cochlear implants if your hearing is basically gone in both ears.
If your inner ears are “sick” then things like the hearing fix may work to some degree. The easy way to tell is to take the hearing fix (or equivalent) and if after 3 months there is no difference to your hearing, then you can assume your hair cells are dead and hearing aids/cochlear implants are the only answer if you want to hear more than you do now.

Neil says
Hi Priya:
If you have used the Hearing Fix for 40 days and have not seen any improvement, then I doubt that your hearing problem can be fixed by treatment like this.
It is likely your hearing loss is the result of dead hair cells and at this time nothing can restore them. Thus your only effective treatment is getting and wearing properly fitted hearing aids.

I have high frequency hearing loss & ringing sound in my both ears, WILL THIS HEARING FIX HELP ME.
Neil says
Hi Bryan:
You haven’t given any information about your hearing loss and tinnitus so it is impossible to say whether it will help you or not.
You can try it and see. If there is no improvement after taking the Hearing Fix for a couple of months, then it is unlikely to help you.
I suspect you have hearing loss and tinnitus that is the result of some hair cells dying. If this is true, then the Hearing Fix will NOT help. Wearing properly-fitted hearing aids would be the correct solution.

Coral says
Hi Neil,
I’m 34 y old, completely death on my right ear (as far as I know since I was born), but always had a normal life and had tests done when I was a teenager that demonstrated 100% normal left ear.
15 days ago I got a Strep throat infection and suddenly my hearing on the left became muffled and I began to feel like I had water/pressure inside my ear. Both my ears were also hurting a lot at the same time that my throat was hurting a lot. Went to urgent care 6 days later as symptoms were not getting better and I felt very sick, and they said I had fluid in both my ears (in addition to inflamed throat, enlarged lymph nodes, sore neck muscles, all worse on the left). They did a culture of my throat which was positive for Strep and I began Z-pack 7 days later. My hearing got worse at around 9-11 days after beginning of the clinical signs, more muffled, unchanged pressure sensation (which seems to get a bit better after I pop my ear) and a constant noise, doesn’t sound like ringing, but it is a noise that never goes away. Went back to urgent care, at this point throat and everything else were great, she prescribed Afrin, no results.
Went to an ENT (14 days later), did some tests and she said I have high-frequency hearing loss on the only ear I can hear from (20db at 4000 Hz, 40 db at 8000 Hz). The right as I knew is completely dead. She says the muffled sound plus constant noise and pressure are likely not related to the infection and unlikely to go away. She did not find fluid on my ears, and the tympanogram was normal.
She said the hearing loss is permanent, and could or not progress, and who know how long would it take to progress. She recommended an MRI to rule-out neoplasia. She prescribed nasal cortisol spray but she did not appear to believe it will have any effect.
I’m very desperate as this is the only ear I can hear from, and I’m afraid it will progress. As of now the muffle sound (15 days after started) has not got worse, neither the constant noise (ring?) but it doesn’t get any better. I can still hear people, although every now and then I understand them wrong and have to ask them to repeat what they said. Is there any hope the muffled sound + tinnitus (I believe) can be the result of the infection and could still improve? Why would it all have started with the infection and not be related to it? Is the high-frequency hearing loss always progressive? The ENT said the muffled/tinnitus and hearing loss could be different things and that probably I was already having the high-frequency hearing loss but have not noticed it until began to have the muffled/tinnitus. I’m planning on getting a second opinion as I would like to try everything possible to prevent from further hearing loss. Thank you.
Neil says
Hi Coral:
There is a very good chance that the Strep virus caused your hearing loss. Viruses do cause sudden hearing loss in numbers of people each year. Typically, this hearing loss is permanent to some degree. Often some hearing comes back, but not all.
The Z-Pack (Azithromycin) your doctor prescribed can also cause hearing loss in some people.
Your hearing loss may actually be a combination of both of the above.
The noise you hear is tinnitus. Tinnitus has many other sounds besides ringing–hissing, humming, buzzing, chirping, roaring, clicking, etc., etc. but people usually just say “ringing”.
Tinnitus often accompanies hearing loss so it is not surprising that you hear such sounds now.
I agree with your doctors that likely your hearing loss, unfortunately, will be permanent. With a high-frequency hearing loss like you now have, you’ll find that you miss more of the high-frequency consonants and thus will misunderstand speech, particularly when there is background noise present.
One big secret to understanding better is to get close to the speaker and reduce any background noise.
Regards
Neil
Christina says
Hi Neil. To repeat Anand’s question, how do you know whether you have a “sick” inner ear or damaged hair cells? My son has high frequency hearing loss, we don’t know the reason. It didn’t start all of a sudden. His problem is not conductive, it is neurological only. He passes the conductive test, but does not pass the neurological test (the one they do on newborn babies). he did pass as a newborn, but not anymore. He has not been exposed to any unusually loud noises during his life. The audiogram shows moderate hearing loss in the high frequencies and mild hearing loss in the mid frequencies, normal hearing in low frequencies. He has trouble hearing people, the tv, the radio, and any high squeaky sounds. I want to do anything I can to help him and help prevent the problem from progressing. Should I give the hearing fix a 3 month trial in him? Is there a way to know if he has damaged hair cells? Thanks.
Coral says
Hi Neil,
Thank you for your response. I thought I would give a feed-back as it may bring hope for others.
Called back the hospital 11 days ago and asked to be put on prednisone after doing research about sudden hearing loss.
Started the prednisone and my hearing got MUCH BETTER 2/3 days later, and now the muffled sound is completely gone.
Then I found out that I actually consulted with a Physicians Associate and not an ENT doctor initially. So I managed to get an appointment with an ENT, repeated the hearing test and it was NORMAL. Also they detected a pressure difference on my ears so the ENT said the tinnitus may go away after the pressure is balanced between both ears.
According to the ENT: everything likely related to the infection, and yes, I should have been put on prednisone. He was quite surprised with the difference in my hearing test, which is now completely normal (before, 40 dB at 8000 Hz).
I now hear completely normal again (well, on the only ear I have). The tinnitus persists, but it does not bother me. I’m just very happy that my HEARING WENT BACK TO NORMAL, which also means is not progressive, and wanted to let people know that it can happen.
For everyone out there with sudden hearing loss: please make sure you get an appointment with an ENT on an urgent basis (it took me many phone calls before I could get one, and I had to drive 3 hours, but totally worthy it) and please insist on being put on prednisone.
BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE and do not trust that you are being given appropriate medical care. If I haven’t done this, I could still have hearing loss which at this point could be permanent.
Final note: in addition to prednisone in high dose, I also started a cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants, including vinpocetine, Gingko Biloba, etc, etc.
Good luck to all of you, God be with you.

Mr neil,

Do all the things you have said so far applies to the new formula as well?
I want to continue using these as long as they arent any significant side effects?
Thanks in advance
Tumkan
Dr. Neil says
Hi Tumkan:
The makers of “The Hearing Fix” have changed the ingredients yet again. It is a far cry of what it contained when I first wrote about it. It now contains Vitamin D3, Vitamin B12, magnesium, L-Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic acid, Vnpocetine, Quercetin, and Acetyl-L Carnitine.
As far as I know, none of these ingredients are ototoxic so shouldn’t damage your ears. However, don’t be misled by the hype on this site. If you have a sensorineural hearing loss due to hair cells dying (and that is what the vast majority of people with hearing loss have), then this concoction will NOT give you back your hearing.
However, the ingredients do promote good ear health, so if your hearing problem is from “sick” ears, this product may help you. You’ll have to try it and see for yourself. If you haven’t seen any change in 60 days, you can assume it probably won’t help you.

Neil

Dear Dr, Neil
Further to my email dated 20 May 2013, I have sensorineural hearing loss due to hair cells dying. This is what audiologist says.So do you think that Hearing Fix will help me
Thank you
Asoka Seneviratne
Dr. Neil says
Hi Asoka:
The Hearing Fix will NOT revive dead hair cells–dead is dead–so if that is the cause of your hearing loss, it will not help.
However, it may improve your inner ear health overall so more don’t die in the future–so you may still benefit from taking it.
You could also get the same benefit from taking the vitamins, minerals, etc. separately or in other formulations. There is nothing “peculiar” to the Hearing Fix formula that you can’t get elsewhere. And since they keep changing their own formula, they are trying to find ingredients that work better (or are cheaper) or both.
Regards
Neil

I have used this product for 6 months with very good results. When I stop taking it for about a week my hearing gets a little muffled though.

Dear Neil
I hereby kindly request to send me the latest formula of Hearing Fix if you have it. I tried to get it from websites but failed. I want to show it to my doctor/chemist before I take it
You wrote to me the following

WHAT EXACTLY YOU MEAN? IF SO WHWRE OR HOW CAN I GET THEM?
Also inform how long that I have to take what you propose and Hearing Fix
I did not see any website of Hearing Fix to indicate people who got best results from Hearing Fix? WHY?
Best Regards
Asoka
Dr. Neil says
Hi Asoka:
The current formula is on the Hearing Fix website for all to see. You can see it at http://thehearingfix.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/hearing-fix-ingredients.png or on the FAQ page.
You can typically get these different ingredients at a good health food store or on-line health food store.
As to why there aren’t numerous testimonials posted of what the Hearing Fix has done for people, I don’t know. Maybe it hasn’t helped many people? They have a place to send your testimonials. Most of what you see on this website is sales hype.

Neil

I am very thankful and greatfull on your clarification and advice and I sincerely hope others will also be benefited.
I am reading research work on Hearing loss. After 10 years we may get treatment to stop the process of losing loss and after 20 years we may get treatment for regeneration.

I have taken The Hearing Fix for about 2 months & I have not experienced any hearing improvement. I contacted The Hearing Fix for a RMA number for return & refund by email several times and I am being ignored. No response from them. There claim “absolutely – 110% guaranteed” is bull shit.
George Simms says
I was to quick to criticize. I sent them a copy of my opinion of them, soon after I received a full refund ($115.95)from them. they are slow about responding but they did respond favorably.

I am 76 years old, have sudden hearing loss in the right ear 4/2013. I have been treated with Steriod injections once a week for 6 weeks and have 70% hearing loss in left ear. I have a hearing aid, but the hearing goes up and down the left hear and when the sound goes down I cannot hear anything. When it comes back sometimes it’s not clear. Do you think the hearing fix will help me? Is it true the hearing in my right is permanent even though I got the steriod treatments?
Dr. Neil says
Hi Gloria:
I doubt that the hearing fix will do much for you. What caused your hearing loss in your left ear? Why does your hearing fluctuate so much? That is not common.
If your hearing has not come back in the past two months with the steroid injections, I doubt that it will ever come back. My rule of thumb is the hearing you have at the end of 30 days after your sudden hearing loss is probably what you’ll be left with for the rest of your life.

I believe my hearing loss in the left ear came from working in a factory with loud noise, even though I always wore ear plugs. The ENT doesn’t know why my hearing fluctuates. They cannot tell if the hearing will go completely in my left because I never had a hearing test in a doctors office, only had a test with a hearing aid company many years ago. I have known for some time that the hearing fluctuates. The ENT thought it was the hair bone but did not want to do anything with the ear because it is my only hearing ear. He suggested a Cochlear implant.
Thanks,
Gloria

Got my shipment quickly. Noticed an improvement in my hearing within two weeks. It is expensive but for me to be able to hear conversations around me again, is worth it.

Just ordered a 3 month supply. Also started taking viteman E, probiotics, fish oil, magnesium with zinc and a centrum. Looking into taking NAC as well + diet and smoking changes. I have taken the hearing fix before and noticed I heard things quicker. My girlfriend tried 2 and said ” it’s like I can here things quicker”. Which caught me off guard cuz I hadn’t told her that yet. Now I got lazy and didn’t take them consistently, so im going to try 3 bottles straight and stay on top of it. I went to an oto and ent and felt pretty much helpless from them. ” we’ll there isn’t a lot we can do because its not like we can look IN ur ear”. My test results were only -5db across and up to 8khz. They said my hearing was fine! But I know it’s not. I produce music and focus on sound more than 99% of people out there. I need to hear to at least 15khz to make a good mix(song). Over the last year I have dropped from 16khz down to around 10khz. I seem to lose hearing every week. My ears take turns going down. I do smoke and eat bad and just got over a period in my life where I did or listened to music 12 hours a day a long with construction work noises. Even after I have settled down with ear plugs and basically no music, I seem to still lose it. So I’m going to try supplements and ill get back on hear once I have some results. Hopefully I provide some good testimony considering my appreciation and focus to sound. thanks
Trent D. says
O and btw I’m 28 and in decent shape. My ears feel “sick” and my hearing is pretty normal in the bass to 8khz range. But the high frequency hearing above 8khz is dieing and getting close to affecting the ranges tested by the oto. My ears only ring once about every days 5 followed by a slightly muffled ear for 2 days. When it comes back to normal I have tested them and noticed I lost a piece of the upper frequencies. The “tinnitus” I expierence only happens when I lose hearing. This can be set off by a loud sound, drinking too much pop, or smoking too much that day. Avoid caffeine and smoking cuz that has been proven to my experience to cause hearing loss. Hopefully I can put a stop to the loss. Guess we will find out. Thanks!

Dear Dr. Neil,
I have had hearing loss on my right and hard hearing on my left ear. I tried to use hearing aids (one on the right, another on the left and the last one hanging behind the ear). None of hearing aids helps to improve my hearing at all. I took hearing pill but the side effects from NAC acid almost kill me.
Should the hearing fix will work for me? but it also includes NAC acid too. Please help.
Best regards, Sam Patayanikorn from Edmonton Alberta.
Dr. Neil says
Hi Sam:
Why don’t hearing aids help you? You can’t hear anything? or you still can’t understand what people are saying?
What side effects did you have from taking NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine)? NAC is a natural substance that goes to making glutothione, your body’s most powerful anti-oxidant. I’ve not heard of bad side effects of taking NAC. Why do you call NAC and acid? Or are we talking about the same thing? NAC is a highly modified form of the amino acid L-cysteine.
Before you take anything else, you (and I) need to know why you think the NAC is hurting you.

Neil

Dear Dr. Neil,
I am a 45 year old working woman. i am diagnosed to have bilateral mild – moderate sensoneural hearing loss around 20 years ago. my hearing was quiet good till my 10 + 2, where i used to sit on last bench. during my higher studies at Bangalore i used to get frequent URTI, I used to sense hearing loss. i did the audiometry and found mild hearing loss and ENT specialist had advised me to take sclerobion. i was taking these medicine for few years and then stopped. In 1999, i again did the audiometry and found it was progressing to moderate loss. there is no family history of same condition in maternal or paternal side. Since 2005 I am using hearing aid and can manage to great extent. in few occasions i have hard of hearing. i was also heading a department and recently I was demoted with pretend of hearing problem. This situation has made me very depressed and request you to inform me whether your product may be helpful to improve my hearing atleast to 50% from present situation. what is the cost of your product and how to obtain that
please suggest
Dr. Neil says
Hi Susan:
The Hearing Fix is NOT my product. I simply reported on its ingredients and its claims so anyone considering taking it can make an informed decision.
Now to answer your real question–can taking a product such as the Hearing Fix (or other similar product) give you back your hearing, the answer is simple. If the hair cells have died and that is why you have the hearing loss, then NOTHING can give you back your hearing. However, if your inner ear cells are only “sick”, then taking supplements and herbals that restore your ears to health could (not will, but could) give you back some, much or all of your hearing.
For the vast majority of people, hearing loss is the result of the hair cells (or other supporting cells) dying, and thus taking such supplements won’t help.
If you want to try any of these supplements, they won’t hurt your ears. If, after taking them for about 3 months, you don’t have any positive results, then you know they won’t help you.
Regards
Neil
