About Dr. Neil & the Center for Hearing Loss Help

The Center for Hearing Loss Help, as its name implies, helps people live successful lives in spite of their hearing losses by providing information, help, support and selected quality products to people with hearing loss (deafness), tinnitus and other phantom sounds (Musical Ear Syndrome), balance issues, and other ear-related problems.

The Center is directed by Neil Bauman, Ph.D., and is run by and for hard of hearing people. At the Center, we know what you are going through for we, too, all live with hearing losses and tinnitus. As a result, we provide empathetic, knowledgeable and practical advice because we deal with our hearing losses all day, every day, just like you have to.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Center for Hearing Loss Help is to help you live a successful and fulfilling life in spite of your hearing loss by providing you with information, counsel, support, books and selected quality products that help you successfully deal with the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of living with hearing loss (deafness), tinnitus (and other phantom sounds), balance issues and other ear-related problems.

You can obtain the help you need from attending our presentations and seminars, by reading our numerous articles and books, and through our personal email and telephone support services.

At the Center, we believe that successfully living with a hearing loss involves five distinct aspects. They are:

  1. Understanding and dealing with the emotional and psychological aspects of hearing loss including grieving for your hearing loss.
  2. Wearing properly fitted hearing aids. We do not sell hearing aids, but provide you with the knowledge you need about hearing aids so you get the most out of them.
  3. Supplementing your hearing aids with Assistive Listening Devices when hearing aids by themselves are not enough to effectively help you hear in difficult listening situations. We sell selected high-quality Assistive Devices that we have tested and used ourselves. If we don’t like them, we won’t sell them.
  4. Speechreading (lipreading) is a most valuable coping strategy—one you should always use.
  5. Successful hearing loss coping strategies. There are myriads of these little strategies that make all the difference between successful communication and an exercise in futility.

When you contact the Center, you will receive the help you need to successfully deal with your hearing loss.

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life [which also includes perfect hearing] through Jesus Christ our Lord." [Romans 6:23]

"But know this, in the last days perilous times will come" [2 Timothy 3:1]. "For there will be famines, pestilences, and [severe] earthquakes in various places" [Matthew 24:7], "distress of nations, the sea and the waves roaring"—tsunamis, hurricanes—Luke 21:25, but this is good news if you have put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, for "when these things begin to happen, lift up your heads [and rejoice] because your redemption draws near" [Luke 21:28].
